Baccarat Rules
Baccarat is as simple a game as they come, almost as simple as Slots really. All you have to do is place your bet, selecting one of three betting options, then let the Dealer do the work. In Baccarat you are simply trying to determine which hand (Player or Banker) will come closer to 9 in value.
Card values in Baccarat are calculated as follows:
Aces are worth 1
Numbered cards less than 10 (that's 1-9) are worth face value
10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings are worth nothing
The value of each 2-card hand is determined by the rightmost digit of the sum of the 2 cards. Thus, a hand of 6 and 7 has a value of 3 (because 6+7=13 and the rightmost digit
of 13 is a 3). A hand of 2 and 5 is 7. A hand of Ace and 9 is 0. A hand of Ace and Jack is 1. And so on…
Suits do not matter in Baccarat.
Once you decide how much you wish to bet, the three betting options are as follows:
Player - betting on the Player to win
Banker - betting on the Banker to win
Tie - betting on a tie between the Player and the Banker
There is a box on the screen for each of these options and you simply place your bet inside the respective box for the type of bet you wish to place.
Once all bets are place, 2 cards are dealt to the "Banker" and 2 are dealt to the "Player" from a deck called the "Shoe" containing anywhere from 6 to 8 standard decks of cards.
The Player and Banker are both eligible to receive a third card according to the following rules:
First and foremost - if either the Player or the Banker has a hand with a value of 8
or 9 (called a "Natural"), that player automatically wins and NO FURTHER CARDS CAN BE DEALT. If both Player and Banker are dealt the same Natural from the outset (both have 8 or both have 9), a Tie is declared.
Provided neither the Player nor the Banker has a hand with a value of 8 or 9, the
hand plays out as follows:
If the Player's hand values less than 5, the Player "Hits" or is dealt another card. Otherwise the Player "Stands" (takes no further cards).
If the Player Stands, the Banker must Hit if the Banker's hand values less than or equal to 5
If the Player Hits, the Banker will Hit or Stand according to the following
rules:
-
The Banker Stands with 7 regardless of what the Player has
-
The Banker Hits with 6 if the Player has 6 or 7, Otherwise the Banker Stands with 6
-
The Banker Hits with 5 if the Player has 4, 5, 6, or 7
-
The Banker Stands with 5 if the Player has 0, 1, 2, 3, 8, or 9
-
The Banker Hits with 4 if the Player has 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7
-
The Banker Stands with 4 if the Player has 0, 1, 8, or 9
-
The Banker Stands with 3 if that Player has 8,
Otherwise the Banker Hits with 3
-
The Banker Hits with 0, 1, or 2 regardless of what the Player has
When all the dealing is done, the one with the highest hand (Player or Banker) wins.
You win or lose based on who you bet on (Player, Banker, or Tie)
If you win, the amount you win is dependent upon the amount you bet.
If you bet on the Banker and win, the payout is 1 to 1 minus a 5% commission
If you bet on the Player and win, the payout is 1 to 1
If you bet on a Tie and win, the payout is usually 8 to 1
As Baccarat is a popular game with High Rollers, the betting limits on the game are usually higher than most other games at the casino.
